ABOUT THE FUND
Almost every election cycle, local and regional ballot measures shape our ability to build affordable homes and achieve housing justice in San Mateo County. When an issue is placed on the ballon, pro- and con- ballot measure committees are formed to support or oppose the measure. Once formed, the committees must raise enough money to build and impairment effective campaigns.
When campaign committees receive early money, they can hire experienced and proactive campaign teams, conduct accurate and effective polling, develop winning messages, build plans and infrastructure to recruit, train, engage and grow volunteer activists and leaders, and succeed on Election Day.
Housing Leadership Action Fund will power these efforts, and we need supporters like you to achieve victory.
In Menlo Park in 2022 "Measure V" would have blocked 88 affordable homes for Ravenswood City School District teachers and staff but a well-funded campaign defeated the measure and the 88 new affordable homes have received final approval.
We secured victory for the Yes on Measure K campaign in 2016, a countywide ballot initiative that dedicated $192M to affordable housing. That investment has helped create or preserve 4,790 affordable homes across 71 developments, with more than 3,000 already completed and hundreds more under construction.
